The Headstock Run is returning to the beautiful Gedling County park in Nottingham. You’ll be taking on the hills of the local area, and travel through its history from coal mines to a solar farm. As always with our events, you may attempt to complete as many laps as possible over the full six hours, or you may choose to finish just one, either way, you will be a finisher and receive your bespoke medal and goody bag.

The aim for our events is to organize races as if I was taking part, so you can expect amazing support, the best medals and goody bags, and a small group of runners that is never any more than 150. Where is Gedling County Park?

Gedling County Park is located in the northeast suburb of Nottingham. Gadling County Park, Spring Ln, Nottingham NG4 4PE. For more information on the venue, including directions, accommodation, and more, please check out the Gedling Country Park Information Page.

Where do I register/ pick up my race number?

You’ll be able to pick up your race number on the morning of the event at the aid station/start line from 10am. The park will be open from sunrise but please be aware that Junior Park run will be in session before us on Sunday morning, hence the later than normal start time. They are due to be finished by 9.30 and then we need to set up race HQ, please do not arrive at the HQ before 10am as it will not yet be set up by that point. The event will begin at 10:30 and run until 16:30.

Is there a time limit?

There is a time limit of 6 hours for this event. This means that you need to have completed your final lap before the end of the 6 hours for it to be counted towards your final distance. Each lap will be around 5.42km long with a total elevation gain of 104 meters of elevation for each loop. This means that if you complete 4 laps you have run a half marathon, 8 laps, a full marathon and 9 laps or more will be classed as an Ultra. You can finish your event at any time within the six hours, and as long as you have completed one lap then you will be classed as a finisher.

What do I get with my entry?

  • A fully unique and bespoke medal designed just for this event, (to be released soon).
  • All the food, drink, and nibbles that you could imagine at the aid station.
  • A fully stocked goody bag at the end with all the “recovery fuel” that you could imagine!
  • Dedicated first aiders on site for the full 6 hours.

Is there an Aid station?

We will have a fully stocked aid station at base camp full of all your favorite items, although if you are expecting energy tablets, gels, and supplements, you may need to bring your own as our aid station tends to lean towards the more “enjoyable fuel”. Imagine Fudge, cakes, cookies, and jelly babies along with all the savory alternatives.

Can I bring my own food and drink for the aid station?

You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink to the aid station. We will have a separate table for these so please make sure that your bottles or items are clearly labeled so that no one takes them by accident!

What is the route?

The route and all of its details can be found here. Please note that depending on the conditions of the route on the race day, we may switch to the backup route in case it is too icy (1)

Do you have a bag drop?

We do not have any secure baggage areas on site but you are more than welcome to leave your bags at the base camp. Whilst we can’t guarantee that they’ll be safe, there will always be someone from Rasselbock around. If you are driving then it is recommended that you leave any non-essential items in your car as the car park is a very short distance from the start line.

What should I bring?

We would recommend road shoes as the event takes part almost entirely on compact walking routes  Like all of our events going forward, we will be operating a bring your own bottle policy. We will not be supplying plastic cups or drinks receptacles at this event so that we can cut down on waste and do our part to help the environment. You will be required to bring your own water bottle, collapsable cup, or similar to the event. We will still have an array of liquids available for you to top up your bottles with at our well-stocked aid station!

Is the run on a closed course?

The event will be taking place in a County Park that is open to the public. Runners will not have the right of way and we will need to be considerate to all the other users of the area, be it walkers, cyclists, families, etc. Please remember that there is a Junior Park Run happening in the morning before our event. Please do not arrive before 9.30am as they will still be on-site and we do not want to overcrowd the car park and cafe areas.

What facilities will be available?

There will be some public toilets that will be open for our use and are located at the side of the cafe around 150 meters from the Race HQ.
