Rasselbock Marathon

Rasselbock Marathon

Join us on the 21st of July 2024 and take on the 2 loop marathon around the stunning Sherwood Pines Forest in Nottinghamshire. With a cut-off time of 8 hours, we are hoping to attract runners of all levels and abilities to take on the summer Marathon.

There will be everything that you have come to expect from a Rasselbock event and more. We’ll have a full finish line with music and an MC to help cheer you on before you get to relax in the event village, where you’ll find local food and drinks vendors alongside small local businesses. The event village will be open for the full day and the perfect spot for families and supporters to relax between cheering you on!

£49.00 plus 1kg of plastic saved from the ocean

During the coming months, we will be adding more features, vendors, activities, and information to both the marathon and half marathon events. When they are confirmed we will announce them on our social media pages and add them to the website.

Marathon FAQs

Your race bib will be posted out to you approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the event date, so please make sure that your delivery address is correct upon signing up. If you lose your bib or it does not arrive then we will have plenty of spare at the Information Tent at the race village. This will be open from 8 am

We will have a large marquee for you to drop off your bags whilst you run. You’ll just need to tear off the baggage strip from your running bib and attach it to your bag before dropping it off with one of our amazing volunteers at the baggage tent. Please be aware that whilst every effort will be made to keep your belongings safe and secure, any baggage that you do leave with us is done under your own choice and we cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Yes, there is, but it is set at a very generous 8 hours! This should be enough time for runners of all abilities to finish the distance, and we promise that you’ll receive the same support and attention from the team and volunteers no matter what time you are predicted to finish in!

We use chip timing to determine your marathon finish time. The ships will come pre-attached to the back of your running bib so please do not remove or bend them. Once you step over the timing mat at the start and finish line the system will record your times. Results will be available live online almost instantly

  • Full chip timing with a half marathon split time.
  • A fully unique and bespoke finishers medal designed just for this event.
  • 9 aid stations on the route, ranging from water, sports drink, fruit, sweets, and other goodies.
  • Dedicated first aiders on site for the full event.
  • 1 Tree planted, 1kg of ocean-bound plastic recycled, and your CO2 emissions for the day offset.
  • E Goody bag after the event containing discounts and offers from sponsors and local businesses.
  • Amazing support from the Rasselbock Family throughout the whole day!

We will have aid stations throughout the course, locate roughly at miles 2, 6, 9, 10, 13.1, 15, 19, 22, 23. These will range from just water and sports drink to fruit, sweets, and pretzels. The locations of these will be confirmed closer to event day.

The route is still subject to change but it will consist of the same 13.1 mile loop run twice around Sherwood Pines Forest. You can view the preliminary route here, but please be aware that it may be subject to change before race day. If changes are made then every attempt will be made to keep the elevation as close as possible to that shown.

The Terrain of the route is classed as mixed, as you’ll encounter forest paths, compact fire roads, as well as a slight bit of sand. The route is very achievable in road shoes but trail shoes are also usable on the route. This is not a road marathon.

The event will be taking place on and around a working forest that will still be open to the public. Runners will not have the right of way and we will need to be considerate to all the other users of the area, be it walkers, cyclists, dog walkers, and children when passing through any of the “activity areas” of the forest.

Neither the Marathon nor the Half Marathon are UKA affiliated events. If you are a member of a run club we can still offer you a discount code for your entry. If your club does not yet have one for you then please drop me a message at eric@rasselbock.co.uk and I can get one set up for you and your club 🙂

We will have a full range of portable toilets at the event village/ starting area. We will also have a small number of portable toilets on the route which will be located at the crossover point at mile 2/10/16/23. There are no showers or changing facilities available onsite or at the event village.

To run in the full marathon you will need to be aged 18 or over on event day. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions to this rule.

Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both the male and female categories. We are working with potential sponsors to award prizes along with the trophies, and these will be announced closer to the event date.

If the event has not sold out by race day then you will be able to sign up at the Information Tent on the day.

We will have two pick-up points on the route if you feel like you cannot continue. All you need to do if you cannot continue is make your way to one of the points and the transfer bus will take you back to the race village. If the bus is not there then do not worry, it will likely be returning runners to the village. There will be water and sweets available at the pickup point in case you need them.
