Mudfest – November 2026

The Rosliston Rumble in the wetter months will now be known as Mudfest! We’ll be heading to the lovely Rosliston Forest again in for a slew of dates on our special short format.

The runs will be a little shorter than usual, only 4 hours long on a 4km loop, but you can still expect the full Rasselbock experience on the day! You may attempt to complete as many laps as possible over the full four hours, or you may choose to finish just one, either way, you will be a finisher and receive your bespoke medal* when you tap out.

The aim of our events is to organize races as if I was taking part, so you can expect amazing support, the best medals, and a small group of runners that is never any more than 30. Think of it as a small group of friends and family all coming together for an amazing day of running! Scroll for more…

FAQ

Rosliston Forest is located 5 miles south of Burton-on-Trent, DE12 8JX. For more information on the venue, including directions, accommodation, and more, please check out the Rosliston Forest Infomation Page. Parking is available onsite at a cost of £4 for the full day.

You’ll be able to pick up your race number at the event when you arrive. The forest will be open from 8am, but you won’t be able to grab your bib until 09:10pm Please allow yourself enough time to grab your number before the race briefing five minutes before the run begins.

There is a time limit of 4 hours for this event starting at 2pm. This means that you need to have completed your final lap before the end of the 4 hours for it to be counted towards your final distance. Each lap will be 4.383km long which means if you complete 5 laps you have done a half marathon, 10 laps, a full marathon, and anything more will be classed as an ultra. You can finish your event at any time within the six hours, and as long as you have completed one lap then you will be classed as a finisher.

PLEASE NOTE:  This event is not a set distance but a 4-hour challenge event for you to complete as many laps of the course as possible within the time frame. Whilst you can run a half or a marathon with us, you’ll likely run a little further to complete the laps in the time frame. Please see below for a list of how far you’ll run for each number of laps

We will have a fully stocked aid station at base camp full of all your favorite items, although if you are expecting energy tablets, gels, and supplements, you may need to bring your own as our aid station tends to lean towards the more “enjoyable fuel”. Imagine Fudge, cakes, cookies, and jelly babies along with all the savory alternatives.

You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink to the aid station. We will have a separate table for these so please make sure that your bottles or items are clearly labeled so that no one takes them by accident!

The route is 4.383km long and run through a mix of forest trails and single tracks. Underfoot you’ll have a mix of natural woodland and gravel tracks and I can guarantee that it will be extremely muddy in places so I’d recommend trail shoes if possible.

Please be aware that the route will have some very muddy areas so you will need extra shoes and socks to change into before you head home unless you like filling the car with the excess mud!

If the route ends up being unrunnable due to the mud then we will have an alternate in place with a similar length and character, but this will only be used in the worst case. You can see the route and download a GPX file through the link below.

We do not have any secure baggage areas on site but you are more than welcome to leave your bags at the base camp. Whilst we can’t guarantee that they’ll be safe, there will always be someone from Rasselbock around.

We would recommend trail shoes for this route! Also please make sure that you wear and bring with you adequate layers to keep yourself warm throughout the race and just as importantly, once you finish. We would also recommend for this event specifically, spare shoes and socks, the venue can be exceptionally muddy. Like all of our events going forward, we will be operating a bring your own bottle policy. We will not be supplying plastic cups or drinks receptacles at this event so that we can cut down on waste and do our part to help the environment. You will be required to bring your own water bottle, collapsible cup, or similar to the event. We will still have an array of liquids available for you to top up your bottles with at our well-stocked aid station!

The event will be taking place on and around a working forest that will still be open to the public. Runners will not have the right of way and we will need to be considerate to all the other users of the area, be it walkers, cyclists, dog walkers, and children when passing through any of the “activity areas” of the forest.

There will be some public toilets that will be open for our use located at the Visitor Center which is located between the car park and the base camp.

There is also a cafe on site which is usually open until around 4pm

Please note that for this event we will not have external first aiders on site. We will have both Rasselbock staff members with basic first aid training for sports events as well as a fully stocked First Aid kit and a defib is available at the Visitor Center if we need it.

All other questions that you may have are most probably answered on the events FAQ page.
